Creating STL files starts with choosing the right source: a silhouette or grayscale image, an existing mesh, or supported CAD exchange geometry. The source determines what the result can contain.

Outline extrusion gives foreground a uniform depth. Heightmap relief turns brightness into surface height above a base. Transparent pixels can remain outside the model. Neither mode reconstructs the hidden sides of a photo.
High detail uses 512 samples on the longest image edge. PNG/JPEG: 20 MB and 24 million pixels. SVG: 2 MB. STEP: 20 MB. Mesh input: 50 MB. Outputs are capped at 1.2 million triangles and processing stops after 90 seconds.

Image conversion creates an outline extrusion or heightmap relief. Mesh conversion exchanges supported surface geometry, while STEP import tessellates CAD surfaces into triangles. Start with the workflow that describes your source instead of renaming a file or expecting unseen geometry to appear.
Review the output dimensions, inspect fine features and reopen the download in the software that will use it. Keep the source document if you need future editable text, parametric features, materials or printer settings.
