Choose the image, keep heightmap relief for variable heights or select outline extrusion for high-contrast artwork. A photograph’s brightness becomes surface height; it is not a reconstruction of the subject’s hidden sides. JPEG has no alpha transparency, so inspect background removal carefully.
To convert a JPEG image to STL, begin with a clean source at a useful resolution. In the resulting STL relief, highlights and dark areas become differences in height. Higher sampling can preserve detail but also creates a larger mesh, so keep a readable depth range and verify fine features at the intended physical size.
Prepare photographs and grayscale reliefs · Use a transparent PNG when the outline matters
Raster images: 20 MB and 24 million pixels. SVG: 2 MB. Image sampling is up to 512 points on the longest edge. Width 10–300 mm, proportional height 1–600 mm, depth 0.2–20 mm, relief base 0.5–10 mm.
One file at a time. Processing stops after 90 seconds. Files remain in browser memory, and no conversion upload is performed. Replacing a file clears the previous result. Closing the tab releases its working data.
Create a clean outline from a transparent PNG, or turn grayscale artwork into a relief. The transparent canvas does not become a rectangular backing.
