Convert PLY to STL when your PLY contains a surface mesh with faces. The converter reads supported polygon geometry and exports an STL surface; vertex colors and other appearance data are not part of standard STL.

To convert .ply to STL, choose a surface mesh with faces, leave STL selected and convert. Rotate the preview to check that a complete surface is present, then download and reopen the result in your receiving application. Confirm a known dimension before treating it as a printable part.
The steps above show how to convert PLY to STL from a triangulated scan or an exported polygon model. PLY to STL conversion does not turn a photograph into a scan, infer missing surfaces or guarantee that a noisy scan is ready to print.
An STL needs triangles. A PLY containing only isolated points has no surface faces to export. Reconstruct a mesh in a point-cloud or scan-processing application first, then convert the resulting .ply file to STL.
Inspect the reconstructed surface before export. Gaps between samples, unwanted fragments and scan noise can lead to holes or bumps. A denser set of points does not by itself prove that the reconstructed mesh is closed or dimensionally accurate.
The output contains the surface triangles. Vertex colors and unsupported custom properties are discarded. Numeric source coordinates are retained, so the physical scale depends on the unit convention used when the scan or model was created.
This .ply to .stl converter is not an automatic mesh-repair service. Check open edges, face orientation and thin regions in a mesh editor or slicer. Import the downloaded file using the intended units and review several sliced layers.

STEP input: 20 MB. STL, OBJ and 3MF input: 50 MB. Output is limited to 1.2 million triangles. Complex models may need simplification in the source application.
One file at a time. Processing stops after 90 seconds. Files remain in browser memory, and no conversion upload is performed. Replacing a file clears the previous result. Closing the tab releases its working data.
